Location: Durham WWTP @ 7:30 AM
Attendees: Noah Harvey, Rob Peacock, Priya Dhanapal, Greg Thiel, Anna Zaklikowski, Terry Chan, Tim Munro, John Harrison, Colleen Bennett, and Brian Casey (telephone).
- Monica submitted a proposed revision to the bylaws to better define the YP group’s function and funding, and also to address the coastal areas and try to bring them into the LCS. After discussion it was decided to accept them with one caveat: Tim will talk to Max about the reason behind wanting to include the coastal areas. Other than that we are okay with the bylaws going to PNCWA for approval.
- Awards – Applications need to be turned in by March 15, so they need to go out ASAP and will also be made available on the website. John Harrison agreed to send out a Call for Nominations. Due to the timing of various events, it was decided to postpone the May meeting and awards presentations to sometime this fall.
The categories for the awards are Project, Operator, and Plant of the Year. The Operator of the Year Award is open to people in collections, plant operations, and laboratory.
- Upcoming Events:
- The OHSU tour is taking shape and is currently planned for sometime in the first half of April as a lunch event.
- The Young Professional group is planning to have an economic crisis talk in late April. Terry and Anna are planning to have YP events on a quarterly basis.
- The Widmer Brewery tour is still in the planning stages with a possible time of sometime in May..
- Priya reported that it’s too expensive to join the centralized effort for National Engineers Month. Talk centered around encouraging LCS volunteers directly contact schools to schedule presentations to students.

Monica working on event speakers, catering arrangements and reserving the presentation location (at no cost). AWWA will put the flyer together and handle registration and CEUs. Profit will go back to each Section based on attendance from that section.
Oregon Region Update - Max is attempting to coordinate a workshop next year structured for operators. LCS has agreed to assist, however plans are on hold until the OESAC committee approves the logistics.
- It was discussed that we need to open up the by-laws to bring in the North Coastal Counties and to add language that better defines the YP group’s function and funding arrangement. Monica will have a draft ready for review at the next meeting.
- Priya suggested an outreach to local colleges and schools during National Engineers Month. Please submit your thoughts to her as soon as possible. It may be a good venture for the YP group.
